When I bought my yoga pants I actually thought: I should justify these. Not in the financial way. We budget blow and clothing money and I do whatever I want with it, but more in the, "Wow, these are a little more form fitting workout clothes than I'm used to. I feel like a hussy."
(This is not an uncommon thing for me to feel. I've always felt more comfortable in baggier clothes. In college I went through a men's jeans, flannel shirt and Birkenstock stage that I don't like going into. It was a sad, sad time in my fashion history.)
You see, it all started with my aforementioned yoga post. I love the class, but unfortunately all the yoga pants I own I wore when I was 9 months pregnant. Because everyone know that when you've worn pants when 9 months pregnant they are REALLY "comfy" after you've had the baby. By the second class I found that the oversized pants actually caused me problems. When I was doing some poses and landed on my bottom because I got my feet caught up in the gargantuan pants, I knew something had to give. I felt justified and began my yoga pant search.
I found the perfect pair and ordered them on-line. When they arrived they fit perfectly and were quite comfy. They aren't "tight" per se, but if you'll notice I was still wearing maternity work out clothes 8 months after I had a baby. I gained some weight, but not that much. The husband said they weren't inappropriate so I wore them. I kept tugging at the extra large shirt I wore to cover up my baby belly and hips. It felt akward.
During yoga I felt self-conscious. My shirt ballooned over when I did the poses. I ended up tucking it into my more form fitting yoga pants so as not to completely expose my abdominal area. I left feeling worse about myself. Not only did I wait a long time to get decent fitting pants, but now I was a supreme dork because I still had a baggy shirt. Now I have other work out shirts, but I haven't worn them because they aren't very long and when you are still nursing and have nursing baby hips you want a bit longer of a shirt. Except I'm not sure that they perfect shirt exists. Sigh.
So, am I justified in buying a more form fitting shirt in keeping with the new pants? Modesty in the long run right? Do you guys have any work out shirt suggestions?

I'm sorry, but I did laugh picturing you as a "supreme dork" with a billowing shirt. :) I like the good ol' Old Navy graphic T. They're longish and not so big around. Though not the most stylish yoga outfit, they're cheap.
Frankly, I like form-fitting workout clothes. Generally speaking, they make me feel better about myself than huge, baggy ones. Nice, supportive tops are great because they hold in some lumps while making it more comfortable to workout. Just make sure you've got strong Lycra or something like it and I think you'll feel better.
You always feel worse about yourself then you really look.
I'm with Lyric - you feel better about everything when you have the right gear. The great thing about yoga is that everyone is so focused on not ending up on their nose that no one is looking at you :) Sometimes I go for the longer tanks - pretty form fitting, but also long enough to cover the lovin' I have around the middle.
