Dirt Project

A dump truck delivered this lovely pile of dirt Saturday morning.  After a long week of moving my grandfather into assisted living and the husband being sick, he spent Saturday evening out in our side yard.
He took down the fence and evened out the side yard in hopes that it will drain better.
Since we had so much dirt we made some flower beds along the deck and along our back fence. Here is a picture of the work in progress.
The husband worked ALL DAY. I felt useless because the baby was sick and cranky. We think he got daddy's cold. He cried and only wanted to be held by mommy. I worked on the deck flower bed for about 15 minutes while he cried on a blanket in the yard. Poor pumpkin. Eventually though, everyone was in bed and I helped re-plant my poor berry bushes.
Here they are after being hauled across the yard. Some of them were not doing very well. We would have just waited to get them until after we made the flower beds had we known how powerful bermuda grass is. It was choking our poor blueberry bushes.
Just as the last light of the day faded, my husband hauled the last wheelbarrow load of dirt away from the driveway and into the back.  After I helped sweep up the driveway we sat on the deck with coffee and I started to feel really, really sick. Now the sickness has passed through everyone but the toddler. Hopefully it won't last too long. We have to finish the flower beds and mulch this next weekend!

Ooooooooo I LOVE yard projects! I just got a big pile of dirt delivered today as well! I need to take a picture of it, documenting the "before" and "after."
