The Finished Deck

Things have calmed down around here. The baby is offically crawling all over the place. I hear a lot of people say their lives get harder when the baby crawls, but for me it is the exact opposite. My life is so much easier now that he can follow mommy around and get to his toys. So. Much. Easier. That and he's sleeping through the night consistently. It only took 10 months, but I'm starting to feel a bit more normal.
This week I've just been hanging out with the kids, drinking homemade lemonade, and enjoying our finished deck. The husband told me he didn't see the finished product of his hard work on every blog and account I have. This one was missing. So, here you go. The best deck ever.

We still have a few summer projects that include:  a major dirt project that involves making flower beds by the deck and the back fence, working on our spring rain drainage problem in the side yard, and staining the deck and the swing set (you have to let the wood dry and "settle" for a couple of months before staining. I'm not sure of all the details why, but I trust the husband.), The first two are really just one big project. Hopefully the toddler will enjoy dirt. I'll keep everyone posted.

Gardening is so incredibly therapeutic, I find. Also, toddlers find the dirt so, SO much fun. Um, too much fun perhaps? Anyway, I hope your gardening is as gloriously relaxing as ours has been.

Lyric, I so totally agree. E and I find it very relaxing to get out in the yard and do things. The toddler usually LOVES hanging out with daddy. I think the plan is for Elliot to move the dirt and I'll smooth it and make flower beds. I know some hate doing stuff like this, but it helps clear my mind:)
