I am really, really cranky this week. Really. I am. So cranky that I threw my wonderful hospital water bottle across the room.(it didn't break everything is okay) I'll explain why the crankiness has hit an all time high.
Last week the baby boy slept for a good 5-6 hours consistently. Then something happened in his little brain that triggered more fussiness and a couple of night time feedings every night with a lack of ability to go back to sleep. This in itself is expected according to Dr. Weissbluth (author of Health Sleep Habits, Happy Child aka. the bible of sleep deprived moms). So, you say, why would that be a big deal since you expected to be sleep deprived? Well it is a combination of many factors.
1. It is hot. Not just the normal hot, but hot and humid. I hate summer. It could be 90 degrees, but with a heat index of 100. I thought our air conditioning would help, but no. We are in a crummy apartment for a year to save up for a house and the top floor NEVER gets below 75. For someone still going through hot flashes, this is misery that can make one a normal cranky.
2. The cats. They are going crazy in our small apartment and therefore insist that we go crazy with them. What they really want is to get into our bedroom at night. Granted, one just wants to sleep in the nice cool closet, but there is the gray one who will take it upon himself to sleep in the cradle. I won't let them in because I don't want the gray one to even get near the cradle with the baby. They are not taking the banishment well. They were until it got hot and now they start meowing and howling outside the door at 3 in the morning. It makes me cranky.
3. Nursing bras are bulky. Really. Is it that impossible to make a comfortable nursing bra that doesn't make you sweat just putting it on? Again, this contributes to the general crankiness.
4. I am hot and the fan broke. The husband made a Wal-mart run for another. Why? He hates it when I am cranky.
Did I mention that I am hot? and cranky?
So very cranky. This to shall pass?

Wicked cats. Soon the baby will be big enough to chase them around and pull their tails. Then they will be sorry.
That is HORRIBLE!! I can imagine that it will all pass...but the present really is...present. Feeling for ya gal. We keep the store pretty cold if you ever need to escape the hot apartment and the crazy cats...
That is a miserable combination. Hope things cool off for you soon.
