For my bloggiversary I decided to give a prize to one lucky commenter. My friend did this on her blog and I was the lucky one to receive a box of happiness. I will write out some things that make me happy below and am asking all of you to write what makes you happy in the comments. On Sunday I will number the comments and have my beloved boy pull a number out of the hat. I will post the winner and get the information to send the lucky winner a box of of haphazard happiness.
What Makes Me Happy:
1. My baby boy. He sucks two of his fingers, screams while on his tummy, is at the low weight percentile but starting to get a few rolls of fat, loves applesauce, has discovered how to stick out his tongue and cluck at me, loves bath-time, loves his daddy and screeches with glee when daddy comes home. In a nutshell. I can't imagine my life without my little bundle of joy and pray that we will by God's grace raise a man after God's own heart.
2. A clean house. I have a straightening problem. I straighten and swipe all day long. Nothing is better than a clean nicely vacuumed house at the end of the day.
3. Books that I get lost in. Now there are historical interesting books, but I love a good story. A good one people, not one where I feel like I am in the depths of despair after I read it.
4. Spa Treatments. I love pedicures, massages, facials, and all sorts of girlie things. Ah, this is the height of luxury for me and my secret dream is to someday have all of these things done in one day.
5. Last but not least: My husband. We met in college and have a long drawn out story. We dated for 5 years while waiting for my dad's blessing and God worked mightily in our lives. He is a blessing and I like fighting with him. He cooks me breakfast and has coffee ready to help me most mornings (coffee made me deathly ill during pregnancy hence the word mostly; then he made me tea if I didn't throw it up). He takes out the trash for me, loves our little boy, and takes care of me. He indeed is beyond what I could ask or think for in a husband.

That finger-sucking sweet-potato-smeared little boy makes me happy too. Also my wife, who promised me a Wii for my birthday.

Even if I don't win, it always makes me happy at least momentarily to recall what makes me happy!
1.)My husband - never a big believer in the fairy tale "love at first sight" thing and had just gotten out of a relationship and not even thinking of entering another when we met and I knew the second I saw him. I still feel so lucky every day.
2.)My dogs - I never thought I would be one of THOSE PEOPLE but these little shih tzus make me extremely happy. All they do is wrestle and want love. And they look like ewoks.
3.)Flowers - I can just walk through the floral section of Whole Foods and feel better. When I get a bonus at work I always buy an armful of flowers and Aaron will bring some home from work with what is blooming at the college sometimes.
4.)Reading - I love a good book, am open to suggestion but always love mysteries. This also includes my guilty indulgence of magazines. I can get all kinds of inspiration from a magazine on anything - decorating, fashion, cooking.
5.)Travel - I love to explore a new city or see something different.
6.) Can't leave out sugar. I have a problem. Love cake, pop tarts, donuts (Krispy Kremes, esp), cookies. Its the monkey on my back.

3. the sight and sound of my kids when they're truly happy

5. a really productive day where i get a lot of writing done, errands, maybe even cook, and wear my (figurative) Super Mommy Cape.

Oooo...fun idea! Hope I'm not too late to get in on the contest. But, I like thinking about what makes me happy,too:
1. Good coffee, a delightful environment to drink it in (i.e. quaint coffee shop), and a good friend to swap stories with.
2. DAYS OFF!! I don't get those much anymore working two jobs, taking on a number of leadership roles at church, and trying to invest in new relationships in my new town. I am actually enjoying my first day off in 3 weeks as I sit here reading your blog.
3. Gilmore Girls. Oh, how I miss looking forward to it every week but it makes me happy to own it on DVD. Sheer happiness at my beck and call.
4. In the same vein as number 3, getting lost in a good story whether it be a well-written TV show, a good book, or my own imagination.
5. My MacBook Pro. Happiness.
6. New adventures in life which make the hard adventures (i.e. the hurtful parts of our journeys) seem entirely bearable and give new hope and new perspective.
I think I could actually keep coming up with things. Might have to turn this into a blog on my site. Hope you're doing well, gal!
