The Count Down

Saturday we are having a small, small birthday party for our little almost 2 year old. There will be firetruck cake and burgers. You would think the simplicity of it all would cause me to not be so stressed, but I am. I think it's ingrain thing. Here is my reasoning and we'll see if anyone can relate:

1. I have two family members coming from out of town for one night. This makes me feel like I should have a somewhat clean house. Not well dusted by any means, but at least I should clean the sheets and make sure the cheerios are off the floor.

2. I'm not making the cake. I bought the fire truck cake, but picking it up in one piece makes me nervous.

3. I'm only decorating with a paper tablecloth and balloons, but when do you go blow up the balloons? I'm working Sat morning early and will be off by noon so I think I'll just go my the grocery store on the way home for safety. Why am I working? I'm still not sure. I think it is because I only have a few more Saturdays to work so it shouldn't be a big deal.

4. We're having burgers, but will there be enough for everyone? I'm going by Sam's tomorrow just in case.

5. We aren't buying the boy any presents to unwrap because the swing set my husband has been working on the last 6 weeks IS the present. The boy is going to be 2. He won't remember right?

So everyone just tell me that I'm insane to do anything in my last month of pregnancy and I'll feel better.

1. sheets are important, cheerios add character to any floor

2. get someone to carry out to the car for you - just pull the I'm-pregnant-can-you-please-help-me card then drive slowly

3. good plan. if you're like me, you'll have to stop at the store anyway on that day

4. let them eat cake

5. absolutely

:-) I frankly think you're more organized than I have ever been in 18 years of birthday parties. You're only mildly insane.

First and foremost I will second Everthing Denise said. Second you want to clean house before you have FIVE small children running around???? If anyone so much as looks at your floors funny I will point it out for you.:)

I think you're crazy to still be working. But I guess that's just me :-).

Firetruck cake sounds adorable and don't you dare stress out! The people who will be there love you and are there to help you celebrate! I think if there is a burger and a cake at a party, I am at the right place. And if the hostess left the cheerios on the floor, i will decide I like her very much.
