A Poop Story: Not for the Faint of Heart

Yesterday it started. I woke up with a scratchy throat and a sense of foreboding. The babe got up early and then went right back to sleep. The husband left for work and I thought I'd risk a child free shower since everyone was still sleeping. I got through the shower and even managed to dry my hair. After 40 more minutes I knew that certain little people in the household had caught the cold that has been going around our family.

The eldest got up first and he was wet. As was his sheets and mattress. I stripped him and the bed and then fed the poor boy. (Don't worry, I wash my hands obsessively when there are bodily fluids involved.) Then the babe got up. He was stuffy and had a small cough. After I fed him and we all played I put him in the bouncy chair because he delights in the bouncy chair. When it was time to put the babe down for his morning nap I swooped him up in my arms. I got halfway to his room and realized that something was running down my arm and dripping on the carpet. I looked down and was a bit repulsed by what I discerned was poop. I put the babe down, washed my arm and then stripped down the baby. I then stuck the changing pad, the babies pjs, and blanket in the sink to pre-wash. I checked the bouncy chair and there was a pool of poop. I then took it to the sink, rinsed, and grabbed everything and stuck in the pre-wash cycle. This child should win a prize for how much poop a baby can produce.

Trying not to be totally defeated I then cleaned the carpets to the best of my ability so that I wouldn't step in the nastiness. By then the babe was sobbing.

I figured since the baby was already crying I'd do the little noses. I had mercy, wrapped him, and then fed him before his nap. He cried considerably and slept a little.

During the 30 minutes that I had the big brother gave me another poop in his diaper, but it was well contained.

By that time I'd called reinforcements and my mom had arrived in time to help me change this one.I went to snuggle the babe while my mom fed and snuggled the toddler.

Thank God for grandmas.
