I Have a Black Eye

It's my own fault really. I opened the door to our car and the edge cut my cheek while the door slammed hard into my eye. I was bleeding and crying and really embarrassed.
I was only embarrassed because I did this while on my way to work. I had to show up at work with a mangled face. I work at a hospital, so a kind doctor and nursed fixed me up. I didn't need stitches, but under my eye is puffy and red.  I would like to give all of the reasons why this happened as sort of a justification for the clumsiness.

  • We have a new car. It's a beautiful older CRV, but the doors are higher and hit exactly at my eye level. I didn't know this, but now I do. Huh.
  • I was in a hurry to get to work because the traffic is worse than normal with construction
  • I was in a hurry to get out the door because my baby was crying.
  • I was stressed. Hey, it's been a stressful time these past few months.
So, friends. When you see me please don't stare. Or think that I was beaten up. It's all good. Advil does wonders.
