Clean Pantry

My three year old was sent to the hospital for a nut allergy. He ate 3 cashews and had a very scary reaction. It's made me hyper-sensitive paranoid mom.

I have to admit that through this I'm seeing things I'm truely grateful for. I have a great nutritionist friend who has helped calm me on several occasions. The fact that she is also nursery coordinator for church and has been hyper-vigilant about clearing  snacks and sending out e-mails has made the church transition much calmer for me!

I was at my mom's when this happened and I live in an area where "ambulance cars" are readily available.

I now have epi-pens and know what a reaction looks like.

I have a great family that is willing to clean out their pantries as well.

The above picture is of my freshly organized pantry. I've been meaning to do it for awhile. After we started the allergy testing I went on a pantry/kitchen rampage. This is the final results after the weekend. I feel much calmer about things. Well....

Except when I go to restaurants. I'll apologize right now to everyone for being such a question asker when we all go out to lunch. I think I'm starting to annoy every waitress or staff person at my frequented restaurants.

Nut allergies are scary. Glad things are under control now, and all is well.

Yay for clean pantry! I really appreciate restaurants that have nutrition and allergy info. It makes life easier for the waiters and the moms :-)

I think part of the health care bill is that all restaurants have to do that by a certain year. In NY it was great because every restaurant had the calorie count on it already. Talk about overachievers!
