Children Resources

I found this great link from the Simple Mom. It's about great authors for pre-school age kids. Since I have a pre-schooler I thought it was interesting. She mentions a lot of my favorites including Eric Carle. [The in-law's bought the pre-schooler a pop up version of The Very Hungry Catapillar. It's in German, but luckily we have the English version as well. The toddler loves the colorful pop up pictures. I'm sure that someone has the pop up version in English:)}

I also discovered the Parents As Teachers program in our school district. Someone comes to your house to evaluate your child and then comes once a month with materials and ideas for you to teach your child. It is totally free and such a good resource. Several friends have recommended it. We've been on a long waiting list but they are supposed to come at the end of the month and I'm excited!

I've also decided to start preparing some home pre-school curriculum with Brightly Beaming Baby. It has been highly recommended for someone like me who has no education on early childhood education. I had a lot of science, but teaching children is not my forte. Since I'm not used to teaching and the toddler just turned 2 I'm going to be spreading each lesson over a 2 week period.

Hope this is useful to some out in the blog world. I need to go to Target to get supplies. I'm sure I'll have the most boring Learning Posters due to my lack of any artistic ability, but I don't think the boy will suffer:)

Thanks for the links. Although I really love "Goodnight Moon" I still haven't come to appreciate "Runaway Bunny". I don't think I have a good enough imagination.
